Laverne Daley

My skating journey began in late 2021 after a friend convinced me to try her skates. One session was all it took—I was hooked. I bought my first pair of Ventro Pro Turbos from Slick Willies,  and I’ve been rolling ever since.

I’m passionate about all styles of skating, which has taken me across the UK  and internationally to places like Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Paris, Berlin, Jamaica, and more. Along the way, I’ve trained with incredible instructors, embracing diverse techniques and cultures.

As a coach, I focus on helping beginners build a strong foundation—covering balance, control, edges, transitions, and key maneuvers like stopping and skating forwards and backwards. I’ve also trained extensively in JB Style Skating in Chicago with top names like Malik Thomas, Lono, and Smooth Goddess and I’m excited to pass on that knowledge.

My skating journey began after working backstage as a hairstylist on the film The Kitchen, where I was captivated by the energy of skaters vibing and dancing together. Two weeks after the job wrapped, I bought my first pair of skates—and I’ve been hooked ever since!

I started skating at Burgess Park, where I met Laverne and later Shreen. Together, we built a supportive skate tribe that continues to inspire me.

After about seven months of skating, I had an broken ankle injury that kept me off skates for six months. This experience made me more focused on safety, technique, and building confidence through patience and repetition.

For me, skating is more than just a hobby—it’s a space to express myself, release stress, and embrace joy. I believe learning should always be fun, safe, and empowering, and I aim to share that energy with every skater I meet.

Tania Murdoch

I’ve always wanted to skate, but for a long time, fear held me back. I owned a pair of skates for years before I finally found the courage to use them. The thought of skating in a park, where others might see me, felt intimidating.

In 2021, I decided to face that fear. I went to Crystal Palace Park, laced up my skates, and took my first step.

Skating has taught me patience, persistence, and the value of showing up for myself every day. What started as fear has grown into a deep passion, and my skates are now an essential part of who I am.

Over time, I’ve mastered a range of moves—different variations of Crazy Legs, smooth Downtown routines, solid Dribbles, precise Toe Manuals, and effortless transitions. Each move I’ve learned has boosted my confidence and creativity on skates.

And this journey isn’t over—there’s always more to learn, more routines to create, and more boundaries to push.
